Lyons in Ireland comes from Ó Laighin, an old family of east Galway, and Ó Liatháin of Cork, remembered in the parish of Castlelyons. Every piece in our Lyons Irish family gifts collection carries the Lyons name, so the choice comes down to where the gift will live and how it will be used.
Indoors or Out: Blanket or Garden Flag?
The Lyons woven blanket is the heirloom of the range. The Lyons crest and the Irish National Tartan are woven into 100% premium cotton yarn with fringed edges, and it comes in 52 x 37, 60 x 50 and 80 x 60 inches. Pick the smallest for a lap throw, the middle size for the sofa and the largest to cover a bed. It suits weddings, anniversaries and milestone birthdays.
The Lyons garden flag takes the name outside. Choose 12 x 18 inches for a garden stand or 24.5 x 32 inches for a porch pole; the pole is not included, so pair it with a stand if the family does not already fly one. It makes a cheerful housewarming present for a Lyons couple in a new home.
Mug or Coasters: Which Lyons Gift for the Table?
The Lyons tartan mug is an 11 oz ceramic accent mug with a black handle and black interior, microwave and dishwasher safe, for someone who wants the name in hand every morning. The Lyons coaster set puts the crest under every cup and glass, with 3.75-inch high-gloss tops and natural cork backs, and suits a host with a busy coffee table or a home bar. Give both together and the tea tray is covered.

Lyons Gift FAQ

Is Lyons an Irish name?
Yes. Outside Ulster, Lyons is almost always the English form of the Gaelic Ó Laighin of Galway or Ó Liatháin of Cork.
Do these gifts suit a Cork family and a Galway family alike?
