About Magee Irish Family Gifts & Heritage
Magee surname history
The primary history derives Magee from Mac Aodha, “son of Aodh,” the Irish personal name often anglicised as Hugh and associated with fire. It places a principal Magee family in east County Antrim, whose name survives in Islandmagee, and notes other Ulster lines. Other surnames from Mac Aodha should not automatically be treated as the same family.
