Preston Irish family history
Preston is an English place-name surname meaning “priest’s farm” or “priest’s settlement.” It became established in medieval Ireland, where the Prestons of Gormanston in County Meath rose among the leading families of the Pale. The Irish history follows that Hiberno-Norman setting without treating every Preston as one noble lineage.
