About Wallace Scottish Clan Gifts & Family Heritage

Wallace is a recognized Scottish clan name with deep roots in the western Lowlands. Historic sources place William Wallace’s origins in Ayrshire or Renfrewshire, while Elderslie remains the best-known tradition. In 1297, Wallace and Andrew Moray led Scottish forces to victory at Stirling Bridge, after which Wallace became Guardian of Scotland.

The modern clan has a living chiefly line. The Clan Wallace Society identifies Andrew Robert Wallace of that Ilk as the 36th chief, and the family crest carries Pro Libertate, usually translated as “For Liberty.”

Shop Wallace mugs, blankets, apparel, flags, ornaments, jewelry, and home pieces that celebrate the name’s enduring connection with Scottish freedom. For the documented story behind the surname, motto, and Wars of Independence, read our Wallace clan history.
