The Story Behind the Design

Say Brady in Ireland and the answer is Cavan. This woven blanket sets the Brady family crest on the Irish National Tartan, a Cavan name made to be handed down.

The Brady Name in Ireland

The Irish is Mac Brádaigh, and the MacBradys were chiefs of Cúil Bhríghde in Breffny, seated in the country around Stradone, east of Cavan town, and prominent there long before the plantations rearranged Ulster. The name stayed put: Cavan and its neighbors still hold the greatest share of Irish Bradys, and it is very common across Ulster and much of Leinster. Nicholas Brady, the Bandon-born poet, gave English congregations a psalter that was sung for the better part of two centuries.

How the Brady Blanket Is Made

Breffny-steady: crest and tartan woven in 100% premium cotton yarn through the cloth, with traditional fringed edges.

Product Details

  • Material: 100% premium cotton yarn
  • Construction: woven, not printed
  • Available sizes: 52 × 37 inches, 60 × 50 inches, and 80 × 60 inches
  • Finish: traditional fringed edges
  • Care: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle; tumble dry low

Cavan's own, wherever it ends up: a wedding gift for a new Brady household that will still be on the sofa when the grandchildren arrive.

More for the Brady Family
