Cahane is the old sound of one of Ulster's great names. This premium heirloom-quality woven blanket honors the Cahane family crest against the Irish National Tartan.

The Cahane Name in Ireland

Cahane is an older phonetic dress of Ó Catháin, the name modern Ireland mostly writes Kane, O'Kane, or Keane. The greatest house of the name were the O'Cahans of Dungiven in Derry, chief lords under the O'Neills — by custom it was an O'Cahan who inaugurated each new O'Neill — and tradition ties the family's harpers to the air the world now knows as Danny Boy. A separate Munster line kept the name strong in Clare and Limerick, where the Cahane spelling lingered longest.
