Courtney reached Munster twice — once from Normandy, and once out of the Gaelic west of Kerry. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Courtney family crest against the Irish National Tartan.

The Courtney Name in Ireland

The name is Norman in origin, from Courtenay in France, and the Courtenay earls of Devon held one of the great Limerick estates, centered on Newcastle West, into the nineteenth century. In Kerry the same spelling took a second life as the anglicized form of the Gaelic Ó Curnáin, otherwise Curnane, so two unrelated lines now share one surname. Most Irish Courtneys belong to Munster, and both roads lead there.
