Roots & History
The Durkin name — O'Durkin in Gaelic — is rooted in County Roscommon and the Connacht Irish tradition, with the name also found in County Sligo. The O'Durkins were part of the Gaelic order of the west, and the name carries the clear regional character of the Irish northwest. Still found predominantly in Connacht today.
How It’s Made
Woven, not printed. The O'Durkin crest and Irish National Tartan are formed within the fabric itself during the weaving process, using premium cotton yarn. Pick it up and you’ll notice the difference immediately — a heavyweight woven texture with rich detail on both sides, rather than a surface image that sits on top of the cloth. Fringed edges finish the blanket as the natural end of the weave.
