The Kinnairds held lands in the fertile Carse of Gowrie from the 12th century, later rising to the peerage as Lords Kinnaird from their seat at Rossie Priory. Their motto counsels staying true to your own course: Errantia Lumina Fallunt — "wandering lights deceive."
