The Story Behind the Design
The MacDonald of Staffa tartan woven straight into 100% premium cotton — the pattern is part of the cloth, not printed over it. The crest sits at the centre, the motto Per Mare Per Terras — "By Sea and By Land" — beneath it, and a woven fringe finishes the edge properly.
The Staffa branch carries the name of one of Scotland's wonders: the little Hebridean island of basalt columns and the booming sea-cave that inspired Mendelssohn's overture. An heirloom blanket from a family whose very name sounds like the sea hitting stone.
