The Story Behind the Design
The MacLeod of Lewis tartan — the bold yellow and black — woven straight into 100% premium cotton, the pattern part of the cloth itself rather than printed on top. The clan crest sits at the centre, the motto Luceo Non Uro, "I Shine, Not Burn," beneath it, and a woven fringe finishes the edge the way an heirloom should be.
This is the blanket for the northern branch of the clan — the Sìol Torcuil, the MacLeods of Lewis, whose old stronghold stood at Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. "I shine, not burn" is a fine thing to weave into something made to outlast the years.
