The Story Behind the Design

Ó Corragáin began in Fermanagh, and Corrigans have since landed everywhere — one of them, famously, the wrong way. This premium heritage woven blanket honors the Corrigan family crest against the Irish National Tartan.

The Corrigan Name in Ireland

The Irish is Ó Corragáin, a sept of Fermanagh's lough country, and the name still clusters across the old Ulster borderlands. Emigration spread it wide and sometimes gloriously: Douglas Corrigan, an American of the name, took off from New York for California in 1938 and landed in Dublin, earning the nickname Wrong Way Corrigan and a place in aviation legend. Mairead Corrigan of Belfast won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976. Fermanagh, meanwhile, has never let the name go.

The design is woven, never printed. Crest and tartan take shape in 100% premium cotton yarn, finished with a traditional fringe at each end.
