Geoffrey Keating, Seathrún Céitinn (c.1580–1644), a priest and historian from the Keatings of Moorestown in south Tipperary, made the name famous. His Foras Feasa ar Éirinn, finished about 1634, told Ireland’s story from the creation of the world to the coming of the Normans.
